Construction works force last-minute shift in Kamukunji police recruitment venue
On Friday, the High Court temporarily varied the earlier suspension of the nationwide recruitment after Justice Bahati Mwamuye stayed conservatory orders issued on November 10, 2025, which had halted the exercise.
The National Police Service (NPS) has moved the Kamukunji Sub-County police recruitment exercise to a new venue after officials deemed the original site unsuitable.
In a notice issued on Sunday, NPS said the Kamukunji Sports Grounds—initially chosen for the November 17, 2025 intake—had been declared unfit due to ongoing construction works.

The recruitment will now be held at Morrison Primary School, roughly two kilometres from the original location. The change affects Centre No. 408 in Kamukunji Sub-County, Nairobi County.
Meanwhile, the National Youth Service (NYS) has announced that the recruitment of former service members will take place at the NHU Grounds, off Thika Road opposite the Utalii Hotel.
This follows an addendum to the 2025 Kenya Police Recruitment Advertisement, which included Ruaraka (NYS Headquarters) as an additional recruitment centre under S/No. 423.
“The NYS Ruaraka (NYS Headquarters) centre will be strictly for ex-NYS candidates who possess a valid NYS discharge certificate,” reads the communiqué.
The NYS stressed that all former service members must meet every requirement listed in the official Kenya Police recruitment advertisement.
Applicants were also advised to download, complete and present the Police Constable Application Form using the link provided in the notice.
Short notice
Given the short notice, the NYS urged former NYS graduates to report to their respective sub-counties as directed in the national recruitment advertisement.
“The Employment Liaison Office advises all esteemed ex-NYS members to prioritise reporting to their respective sub-counties, as emphasised in the official Kenya police recruitment advertisement,” the advisory added.
The communiqué also noted that access to the NHU Grounds on the recruitment day will require a valid NYS discharge certificate, which will serve as the official gate pass.
The NYS reminder comes as thousands of former service members prepare for the annual police intake, which routinely draws large numbers of youth aspiring to join the disciplined forces.
On Friday, the High Court temporarily varied the earlier suspension of the nationwide recruitment after Justice Bahati Mwamuye stayed conservatory orders issued on November 10, 2025, which had halted the exercise.
“Pending the inter partes hearing and determination of the 1st Interested Party/Applicant’s Notice of Motion Application dated 13/11/2025, the conservatory orders issued on 10/11/2025 in this matter are stayed, and the obtaining status quo ante in place immediately before their issuance shall apply in the interim,” the judge ruled.
The court clarified that the suspension is paused only to allow the pending application to be heard.
Transparency and accountability
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has also warned those attempting to bribe their way into the process, saying the government will take action against anyone involved in corruption during recruitment.
“We demand transparency and accountability. Those who are carrying money when people go to run so that they can bribe, we want to tell you that we will arrest you,” Murkomen said.
He urged communities nationwide to help safeguard the integrity of the process.
“We want you, as local Kenyan communities, to come out as observers. We want your support for those who will be bribing, to record them and bring them to us, so that we can sort out this thing of corruption,” he added.
Murkomen further said the government intends to complete the entire recruitment on the same day to minimise interference after candidates finish the physical and academic verification stages.
“We want the exercise to be completed by 5 pm so that we can be able to announce all the successful applicants,” he said.
